ART THAT EATS

ART THAT EATS •

Lamisa (b. Dec 29, 1996, Ontario), aka “mango rituals” is a Canadian-born, second-generation Pakistani artist.

Her work finds its centre in food, nature, cultural hybridity, and personal healing as interconnected themes, revealing how identity is formed through lived experience and shared community bonds.

Food holds a deeply symbolic place in Lamisa’s art and heart, serving as an infinite mirror to nourishment and renewal. She views food as more than just sustenance, but as a conduit for culture, memories, and healing. A plated gesture of being able to change the world within us and around us.

Strategically and organically employing colours that sample a rich visual flavour profile.

Each meal, each paint stroke, each ingredient, each palette are part of recipes that tell stories for generations, and by painting food,

Lamisa creates a visually delicious avenue for reflection on how food unites and sustains us emotionally, physically, and spiritually. A feast for the mind, body and soul.

I’d love to chef up your vision.

I draw the way a bird sings, the way a tree grows leaves, the way the birds know how to fly south, it is magnetized in my bones,

Instinctively guided by some inner compass, it’s in my nature, incurably innate, beyond concious reasoning. My art is a realm where I translate and communicate a world i do not fully understand, but somehow i speak its language.

Gifting my inner world a center of gravity. It’s the deepest love I have to offer.

I hold a paintbrush the way a priest holds a rosary; religiously.

Yours Curiously,
